A One-Time-Pad without couriers

The KeyBITS Platform encrypts data continuously through fast and secure distribution of random “one-time-pad” encryption keys transmitted without the need for couriers.

Continuous operation

The Platform operates continuously, with bit generation fast enough to support high volumes of data. The speed depends only on the system software and electronic components, and can be increased if needed.

Bit signals are protected

Bit signals are protected by physical noise and privacy amplification procedures. It allows secure transmission of data, images, voice using one-time pad encryption.

Uses natural chaos to generate random bits
Light fluctuations cannot be controlled – they are produced by Nature. KeyBITS generates random bits using laser beam intensity fluctuations. So the encryption bits are truly random.

NIST randomness tests

The streams of generated bits pass all of the NIST’s tests for randomness and others.

Compartmentalized keys

Each sequence of distilled keys has no correlation with past or future sequences. Incidental access to a sequence of keys do not give access to past or future keys.  Knowledge of one decrypted sequence would provide no insight into the decryption of any other messages: neither past nor future.

Stable, easy to maintain

The optoelectronics system is stable, with no need for routine maintenance (except for eventual replacement of end-of-life components). The system uses a single laser with automatic intensity and temperature controls. There are no delicate light beam balances or interferometric effects to be controlled.

Miniaturization possible

The Platform can be miniaturized (large chip size) to increase mobility.

Generator: a standalone device

The bit generator, part of the Platform, can work as a standalone device for multiple applications beyond encryption: for example, games, simulations, or other processes that need truly random numbers.

Application software

A single Platform can send keys in a secure process to multiple users. An application software is installed in the user’s communication device (PC, mobile device, cellphone). 

Highly scalable

A single key generation platform can be used for N users. A communication network using one KeyBITS Platform, with cost C, is basically divided among N users: C/(N+1). The number of users (N) per platform depends on their demand of keys per second and the single Platform capacity (of order of Gigagit/second). 

Wide range of applications

From civilian to military uses. government and corporate networks, IoT, protection for transmission of financial, medical data, … games.
